animation, prints, and interactivity
I’m glad the cap is holding on the hole in the gulf, but just because the bleeding has stopped, doesn’t mean the problem is gone. Below is a piece I did back in March. I make no claims to prescience. Anybody with their eyes open down here could see it coming for many years.

Jonathan has put together a charity fundraiser to support the recovery from the tragic BP oil leak, through Gulf Aid. A great group of artists have each created a limited edition print that will be available for purchase online at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery’s website and at a special 3 day show in the gallery, June 17 – 19.
For the fundraiser, I created an image of a pelican, perhaps rising phoenix like from the oil.

thurs through sunday (June 13th) are the last days for the la artworks studio residents show. la artworks is open 11 am – 5 pm. if you come by saturday, i’ll be there to give you a personal tour.
Field Recordings: New Video Work by Courtney Egan opens at Heriard Cimino Gallery on julia st in nola this sat from 6-8pm. the show will be up for the month of june. I think the show is fabulous. Come out and see what you think.
a studio in the woods is having their forestival celebration of art and nature out in the woods on sat, june 5th from 11 am until 5pm. If you have never been out there, this would be the perfect time to visit. If you have, you know that it is a hidden treasure, so go out and support them. there will be music by panorama jazz band, artist presentations, botany tours, kid art activities and an auction chock full of goodies including work by ron bechet, theresa cole, jan gilbert, shawn hall, and myself.
A couple of my pieces were selected to be in a show called Resilience at the Williams Tower Gallery in downtown houston. The show opens thurs, june 3, 6-8 pm and is up until july 16th. Other artists in the show include Pat Cronin and Mitchell Gaudet.
So busy, i forgot to put up a post about the La Artworks Fundraiser, where i debuted my self-portrait piece “Identity Theft”. Folks appeared to have a lot of fun with it, and i hope to show it elsewhere soon. In the meantime, all of the La Artworks studio residents have their work installed throughout the first 2 floors of the LAW building on howard st near lee circle. it is open thurs -sun until june 13th. I have a couple of aluminum prints up, and the rest of the folks have put up some great work too.
The 2010 juror Bill Arning has selected seventy-five pieces of art created by twenty- six artists to be part of the Southern Open exhibition opening on May 8. Three of these are prints of mine. The Southern Open is n the Main Gallery of the AcA in downtown Lafayette beginning on May 8 and running through July 24, 2010. The opening reception will be May 8th during the lafayette artwalk. Come on out and see the show.

myrtle has put together an interesting show of self-moving things at the candle factory, 4537 n Robertson and japonica in the ninth ward. the show opens saturday, april 24th, and closes sat may 8th.
